Placing an order
Ordering a laptop from The Rent Company is quite simple. Your school or educational institution will give you a school code. The school code will also be shown on the order flyer which you receive from school. You need to enter this code on the order page.

Once you are logged in, you can choose the laptop and term that suits you best. You can also purchase accessories such as a mouse or an additional charger.
Are you not at a school which is connected to us? No problem! Through Laptop Campus you can also order a laptop privately. In this way, you can still enjoy all the advantages of an Easy4u all-in-one subscription!

Difference between rent and buy
Whether you rent or buy, a device from The Rent Company always comes with the Easy4u all-in-one subscription. So there is no difference in terms of service between renting and buying.
However, there are some other differences. Below, we have highlighted these differences for you.

Final order date
To make sure we can deliver on time, we ask you to order before 31 July. After that date, we often manage to deliver the laptop before the start of the new school year, but we advise you to order early.
You can order at any time
In addition, it is possible to place an order at The Rent Company at any time of the year. Even if the school year is in full swing, we can always help you!
Ordering accessories
Through your Easy4u portal, you can simply and quickly order various accessories. For example, an extra charger or a wireless mouse for your device.
Once you are logged in, click on ''Order''. You will then immediately see the accessories that are compatible with your device. The accessories you order here are immediately insured within your Easy4u all-in-one subscription.
Cancel an order
Cancelling your order is possible within 14 days after receiving the order. After these 14 days, it is no longer possible to cancel your order.
To cancel your order, we need some details from you. You can send these to us via email.

My delivery and pick-up receipt
We have made arrangements together with your school or educational institution for the delivery of your order. This can be done in three different ways. We are happy to explain them to you below.
Delivery at school
We will be present at your school and hand over your order to you personally. Three weeks and three days before the delivery at your school, you will receive an email from us containing a pick-up receipt, the pick-up date and time.
When you are unable to pick up your order yourself, someone else may do this for you. You just need to make sure this person has the email with the pick-up receipt. If you really can't be present, we have another solution for you.
Delivery to school
We will deliver your order to your school and they will hand it over to you. You will receive an email from them with the pick-up date and time.
Delivery to home address
We will deliver your order directly to your home address. You will receive an email from us containing track & trace information so you can follow your package. If you are not at home, your package will go to a PostNL location. Pick up your package within one week, otherwise it will come back to us.

Can my order be delivered earlier?
No, unfortunately this is not possible. We have made delivery agreements with all schools and we cannot deviate from this.
I cannot be present at the delivery at school
No problem, we have taken that into account too. When you are unable to pick up your device yourself, someone else may do this for you. You just need to make sure this person has the email with the pick-up receipt.
No one can be present
If no one can be present at the delivery at school, there are 2 more options:
Each school has different options, so we cannot tell you yet how we will provide you with your order. You will receive an email from us with instructions so that you know exactly how we will provide you with your order.

Received broken product (DOA)
Have you received your order and it has been delivered broken? In this case, we speak of a DOA (dead on arrival).
On behalf of The Rent Company, we sincerely apologise for this inconvenience. Of course this is not the way it should be and we will solve this immediately!
Within what time frame can I report this?
If you receive your order broken, you have 14 days to report this to us using one of our contact options. The 14-day period starts from the moment you have received your order. If you report it to us outside these 14 days, we will use our regular repair process.
When do we speak of a DOA?
When your device does not turn on directly after receiving it, it is a DOA.
NOTE: before returning your device to us, it is important that you first connect it to the charger for 5 minutes. When you click the power button for 20 seconds after these 5 minutes, in most cases your device will turn on automatically!
How do we solve this?
We have 2 ways to solve this for you. After we have received your device, we will assess how to solve it for you. Depending on the issue, we use the following simple and transparent guidelines:

Forgotten user name and/or password
The button below will take you to your Easy4u portal. On this page, click on ''Forgot my credentials''. Then enter your email address and we will immediately send you an email with access to your login details.
It still doesn't work
Are you still unable to access your Easy4u portal? Click the button below and we will help you immediately.
I'm leaving school, but the subscription continues
Are you leaving school and your subscription is still running? Then we offer several options. You can convert the subscription to a private subscription. The service will then continue through your home address. After this, it is no longer possible to get a loaner laptop. You can send us this request by email.
Are you going to another secondary school that we also have a partnership with? Then we can transfer the subscription to the new school. You can ask the new school if we collaborate with them. If the school is not sure, please contact us so we can check this for you.
Has your subscription been taken out before or after 1 May 2024? Here we will tell you what is possible.
Subscription before 1 May 2024
You can simply cancel the subscription yourself using your Easy4u portal. Click on ''End subscription'' and follow the steps. All you need is proof of deregistration from school or graduation. This option is only available if you rent the laptop.
Subscription after 1 May 2024
You can simply cancel the subscription yourself using your Easy4u portal. Click on ''End subscription'' and follow the steps. All you need is proof of deregistration from school. This option is only available if you rent the laptop. In case of graduation, it is not possible to cancel your subscription earlier.

My Easy4u all-in-1 subscription is about to expire. What do I do now?
As soon as the Easy4u all-in-1 subscription expires, you will no longer have any service on your laptop. Which means:
- You can no longer have your laptop repaired by The Rent Company
- There is no more replacement laptop available
- Your laptop is no longer insured in case of damage or theft
If you have bought the laptop, it will remain yours. You can keep using the laptop, but without the Easy4u all-in-1 subscription.
When you have rented the laptop, you can keep or return it. That is how it works:
- If you want to keep the laptop, you don't have to do anything. We keep the deposit and the laptop becomes your property. Just like buying it, you can keep using the laptop, but without the Easy4u all-in-1 subscription.
- If you want to return the laptop, you can arrange that in your Easy4u account, by going to 'Terminate subscription'.
Do you want a new laptop from The Rent Company? We are happy to make you a new offer. Please contact our customer service. So you can continue to enjoy the security of Easy4u!
Change school
When changing schools, you need to let us know. We kindly ask you to send us an email and include the following information:

Report repair
Does the laptop need to be repaired even after taking good care of it? No problem! Through your Easy4u portal you can easily and quickly report the laptop for repair.
Once logged in, follow the next steps:
The hardware will be sent to The Rent Company where it will be checked and repaired. When it's ready to be collected, you will be notified by email.
NOTE: always back up your data, as it may be deleted. We are not responsible for data loss.

Status of repair
We will keep you informed about your repair through email. You can also check the status of your repair in your Easy4u portal.

Repair costs
With an Easy4u all-in-one subscription, you are guaranteed a fast and good repair. In many cases, this is at no charge, for example when there is a factory error or when the device no longer works properly through normal use.
If the device is broken due to your own fault, such as falling off a table, the own risk of €50 will be charged. If we see that the device has been broken on purpose, the full repair costs will be charged. Thankfully, this does not happen very often.

Duration of repair
One thing is for sure: when your laptop is broken, you want it back as soon as possible! We try to complete every repair within 10 working days. However, this is not always possible. This may be due to busyness or because the parts needed to repair are hard to get. We hope for your understanding.
When your laptop is ready to be collected, we will of course notify you immediately.
Acer laptops
For Acer laptops, the repair period is currently 20 working days. This is because the parts needed to repair are very hard to get. We understand this is annoying, but hope for your understanding! Once the parts have arrived, we will do everything we can to repair your laptop as quickly as possible.
Easy4u all-in-1 subscription
With the Easy4u all-in-1 subscription, you get a replacement laptop when your laptop is being repaired. You don't have to miss a minute of class!
My charger is broken
Your charger is an important part of your laptop. After all, you can't use your laptop without one. That's why we want to help you as soon as possible in case of problems.
Is your charger broken due to damage, such as water damage, or because your dog bit the cable? Then it is not covered by warranty and we recommend you order a new charger. You can do this in your Easy4u portal.
Is your charger not broken due to damage? Then please contact our Customer Service. We can then help you further so you can get back to work as soon as possible!
My device has been stolen
Of course, when your device is stolen, it is incredibly annoying! In specific cases, the theft of your device will be covered by the warranty. This varies per situation.
You should first report the theft to the police. Without a report, we cannot help you.
After this, you can send the report to administratie@rentcompany.nl. We will then contact you to discuss whether and what we can do for you.
Warranty after repair
After every repair, you get a 6-month warranty on the part we have replaced and the work we have carried out. On a battery that has been replaced, you get a 12-month warranty.

After logging in with the school code you received from your school or educational institution, you will be taken directly to the right webshop. Here you will find the selection we put together with your school.

What is the product selection based on?
For each student, the school together with The Rent Company decides which products to choose from. This selection is aligned with the school pathway. Several things are taken into account, such as:

Installed software
Windows laptops are completely installed and ready to use. This includes any software applications coordinated with the school or educational institution. In all cases, this includes the following software:
NOTE: we install Microsoft Office but do not provide licences for its use. This is arranged by school. Therefore, when you order a laptop privately or leave school, you will need to provide this licence yourself.
Because a Chromebook works over the internet, the apps and programmes used are provided to the school using the cloud. This configuration is done through the Google Classroom software managed by the school.
Information about Chromebooks
A Chromebook is a computer that comes with Google's Chrome OS operating system. The Chromebook takes only seconds to start up and has built-in antivirus protection.
Compared to a normal computer, a Chromebook stores and processes everything in the cloud, an online server. Therefore, a Chromebook does not require local storage.

Below are the dimensions of the laptop sleeves that come with our devices. Based on the size of the screen, a matching sleeve is provided. In this way, you know exactly how big the device including the sleeve will be and can, if desired, buy a suitable bag.

Double invoice/collection 1st debit
Was the first invoice debited twice? If your subscription started after the 10th of the month, we will collect twice during the first debit. This is because you always pay one month in advance. After that, we will debit once every 24th of the month.

Will I get a BKR registration when renting?
No, you will not get BKR registration. We think it is extremely important that everyone can participate in digital education! That is why we have ensured that there is no need for a test or registration with the BKR.
My invoices
Through your Easy4u portal you can view your invoices. Once you are logged in, click on ''Invoices'' and you can see everything.
Change bank account number
To change the bank account number for direct debit, we need some information from you. You can send this to us via email. If the new account number is not on your name, we kindly ask you to include the new account holder in the cc of your email.
The debit number can be found on the invoice or in the Easy4u portal. The change will take effect from the next debit date. If you make the change after the 17th of a month, there will be one more direct debit from the old account number.

Below, we have answered the most frequently asked questions regarding G-Data for you.
My login details don't work
You have received two emails from us separately sharing the username and password. In both emails you will find instructions on how to install G-Data. We notice that it frequently goes wrong at step 7 because here you are asked which way you want to activate the licence. You should choose ''Enter login credentials'' here, after which you can enter the username and password.
Activeren licentie
After downloading the G-Data software, log in with your username and password. Once you have logged in, click on ''Activate licence'' at the bottom left and enter the licence code. After this, your G-Data licence is activated.
Run virus scan
In the G-Data software, click on ''Virus protection'' () and select the option ''Check computer (all local hard drives)''. A virus scan will then be executed.
Switching functions on and off
When a function says ''not active'', you can enable it by clicking on it. Switching it off is done in exactly the same way.
Switching on child protection
In the G-Data software, click on ''Child protection'' (). Then click on the option ''Child protection for this user'' and select ''Enable''. After this, you can define the allowed content.
Configure security level
In the G-Data software, click on ''Firewall'' (). Next, click on the option ''Security'' and then on ''Edit security settings''. After this, you can configure the security level.

Logitech Signature M650 USB dongle
We hear it quite often: you've ordered the Logitech Signature M650 mouse, but can't find the USB dongle. The USB dongle is safely stored in the mouse itself. You can easily slide off the bottom of the mouse. There you will find the dongle that you can plug into your device.
Lenovo 300w touchpad/keyboard problems
It may be possible that your laptop (Lenovo 300w) thinks it's in tablet mode. Normally this only happens when the laptop is folded in half, but because of a bug in the software, this can also happen due to other influences. For example, by a metal object coming close to the laptop or when 2 laptops are lying on top of each other.
The latest BIOS update solves this problem in most cases. You can install this by following the steps below:

Acer Chromebook 511 won't turn on
If you leave your Acer Chromebook 511 on the charger for a long time, it may no longer turn on. Acer is aware of this and will fix this issue in the next update. Until then, we've found a way around it ourselves:

Battery problems
As the battery ages, the battery life decreases. Here are a few tips to keep the battery in good condition for as long as possible and not to consume unnecessary power:
-Charge the battery until it is completely full. Only then should you remove the laptop from the charger. Leaving the laptop on the charger all the time, even when it is already full, is also bad for the battery life.
-Set the brightness and contrast of the screen to a lower level.
-Don't run a multitude of programs at once, but rather close them after use.
-Playing games (only during breaks!) consumes a lot of battery power.
If your battery is working so badly that it prevents you from using your laptop optimally, you can submit your laptop for repair. We will then judge what the issue is and, if needed, replace the laptop. There may be costs involved.
Mouse or keyboard problems
Below is a step-by-step plan, which you can use to get your mouse or keyboard working again:
1. Turn the computer off completely (Start → Power → Shutdown) and then on again.
2. For a wireless mouse or keyboard, check that the batteries are not dead.
3. Check that the mouse or keyboard works on another computer.
4. For a mouse, try whether it works on a white sheet of A4 paper.
5. Insert a usb stick in the same port of the laptop and check if it works. If not, try another USB port.
6. Check that the antivirus package is not causing a problem.
7. Reboot the computer with mouse and keyboard connected.

Webcam problems
Below is a step-by-step plan, with which you can get your webcam working again:
1. Turn off the computer completely (Start → Power → Shutdown) and then turn it back on.
2. In Windows, check that the camera is working:
- Click the start button and open the camera application.
- If the camera has an image, the problem is in the other program.
3. Go to Start → Settings → Privacy → Camera and check that Access to the camera for this device is enabled and that the application has access.
4. Check that all drivers are installed by installing Support Assist on a Dell laptop and have the program install the latest updates.

Microphone problems
Below is a step-by-step plan, which you can use to get your microphone working again:
1. Turn off the computer completely (Start → Power → Shutdown) and then turn it back on.
2. Go to start → settings → system → sound
3. See if under ""Testing your microphone"" the bar moves when you make sound
4. At ""Choose your input device"" check if the right device is chosen there
5. Verify that all drivers are installed by installing Support Assist on a Dell laptop and having the program install the latest updates.
Issue not resolved? Perhaps the issue lies somewhere else. For technical support you can contact your customer support.
Headphone problems
Below is a step-by-step plan, which you can use to get your headphones or earphones working again:
1. Turn off the computer completely (Start → Power → Shutdown) and then turn it back on.
2. Check that your headphones themselves have nothing wrong with them:
- Connect your headphones to your cell phone and check that they work then.
- Does your headphone also have a microphone connection via a 4-pin plug; then you can also check if it works by calling your phone.
- If your headphones have a normal stereo jack; then you can check if your cell phone can play music through your headphones.
3. Reboot your laptop with the headphones connected. If it works then, and if you remove the headphones it doesn't, then there is a problem with the drivers. Verify that all drivers are installed by installing Support Assist on a Dell laptop and having the program install the latest updates.

Contract expiry date
You can easily find this under ''Personal details'' in the Easy4u portal. Here you will find, among other things, when the contract started, the duration of the contract and the end date.
Contract renewal
When your Easy4u subscription expires, you can renew it with us at any time. You can do so by following the steps below.
Information about service extension
If your device still works perfectly well, you can also choose to only renew the Easy4u all-in-one subscription. Below, we are happy to explain how this works.
A service extension is only possible if we can guarantee a potential repair. If, for example, we can no longer get the parts for your device, we cannot offer a service extension.
Follow the steps below to set this in motion.
What is the ''new school laptop'' option?
You can use this option if you want to order a laptop for the same high school. It means the following:

You can use this option if you want to rent or buy a laptop for continued education. It means the following:
I am out of school and no longer have access to my device
Don't worry, this is because the account has been deactivated by the school. When you reset your laptop to factory settings, you will immediately regain access to your laptop.
Dell
Follow the instructions using the button below to regain access to your Dell laptop.
Terminate subscription
Termination of the subscription can be arranged easily and quickly using the Easy4u portal. Log in, go to the homepage, click on ''Return laptop'' and follow the steps. Next, you will receive an email from us containing the return instructions for sending your laptop back to us.
Good to know
In case of an early termination, proof of deregistration or graduation must be attached. The deposit will not be refunded. We are happy to tell you more about it.
Deposit of the laptop
If you terminate your subscription with us within 20 days before or 3 weeks after the end date, you will receive the deposit back from us.
If you terminate your subscription with us before the 20 days of the end date, we will consider this as an early termination and you will not receive the deposit back from us.
You cannot terminate your subscription after the 3 weeks of the end date. In this case, you will not receive the deposit back from us. However, the laptop will be your property.
Cancel an order
